Our Mission

Muslims with HSV is dedicated to educating the Muslim community about Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) while providing a safe and supportive environment for Muslims living with the condition. Our goal is to empower individuals to live confidently and healthily, promoting a more informed and compassionate society.

Why We Exist

HSV is one of the most common viral infections globally, yet it remains shrouded in stigma and misinformation. An estimated 3.7 billion people under age 50 (67%) globally have herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), the main cause of oral herpes. Additionally, approximately 491 million people aged 15-49 (13%) worldwide have herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2), the main cause of genital herpes. Despite its prevalence, most HSV infections are asymptomatic or unrecognized, leading to a lack of awareness and understanding.

Breaking the Stigma

Living with HSV often means facing social stigma and misinformation. This stigma can be particularly challenging within the Muslim community, where discussions about sexual health are often limited. We believe it’s unfair for individuals to be ostracized or judged for doing the morally right thing according to Islam, such as disclosing their status to potential partners or educating others about the virus. Our mission is to clear up misconceptions, foster understanding, and promote an environment where individuals are not marginalized for being honest and responsible.
